You Just need to Ask

You Just need to Ask

You just need to ask - flowingfaith.comDo you feel stuck? Sometimes we feel like we’d be doing the same old, same old routines over and over. Nothing changes no matter how we try. Like we’d be forgotten in the middle of nowhere. But that’s not true. God knows exactly where you are and what is going on in your life. He is ready to help you. You just need to ask. Don’t let fear keep you stuck. Let God’s grace set you free.

You see, I have found that the only way out of a rut is Jesus. Really. Usually what keeps us stuck in a rut are our feelings of unworthiness and hopelessness. We are tired and fearful, we can’t see a way out of our situation, so we feel overwhelmed, helpless and stuck. But then we forget that we were made for more than being stuck in a rut. That is not God’s plan for his children.

You just need to ask

What is God’s plan then? God wants to rescue his children from vicious cycles of defeat and self-blame. He wants us to be free in Christ. When we are in Jesus, we are not defined by our past or present. Instead, we are defined by Jesus. He tells us we are precious children of God, we are forgiven, loved and worthy. This changes everything.

Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
    and streams in the wasteland.
(Isaiah 43:18-19, NIV,*)

Jesus yearns to show you how he can do a new thing in your life. You just need to ask. And when you do ask for help, you realize God releases you from the thought-patterns that have kept you stuck. And you are surrounded by God’s empowering and uplifting grace. It is amazing how everything then feels new even though outwardly everything is still the same. God can really help you, even in the middle of a wasteland. His help is real and it works. You can experience it too. You just need to ask.

Let us pray:

Gracious God,
Help me!
I am stuck in a rut in the middle of nowhere.
Come and rescue me.
I dump by fears and doubts at the feet of the cross
and ask you to fill me with your grace instead.
Instill faith, hope, joy, and peace in me.
Make me see myself and my situation with your eyes.
Create a way in my wilderness, Lord.
Show me your grace and glory.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: What keeps you stuck in a rut? How do you get out of there? Have you experienced God’s help?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you ask for God’s help!

*[As you might have noticed, I enjoy reading the Bible in different translations and love comparing them. I have started linking the Bible verses toBiblegateway.com so you can easily read (and compare) them in the different versions I’ve used while preparing each post.].
