What is your favorite Bible translation and why? A couple of days ago I finished reading the Finnish translation and now I try to decide which translation I will do next. Any recommendations? I need to make a quick decision because I want to return to regular Bible reading as soon as possible. Because it anchors me in Jesus. It blesses me more than I know. So, let me know which Bible version you recommend. I can’t wait to return back to Genesis. It’s time again for meeting God in his Word.
Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example],
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers).
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And on His law [His precepts and teachings] he [habitually] meditates day and night.
And he will be like a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season;
Its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to maturity].
(Psalm 1:1-3, AMP,*)
Reading the Bible is one of the essential things for me as a Christian. Because the Bible is not just a collection of ancient texts but a meeting place with God. When I prayerfully read the Bible, the Holy Spirit speaks to my heart. God reads me as I read his Word and I read God’s heart as I read his Word. It’s beautiful really. Try it. Or return back to it. You don’t have to read chapters after chapters every day. Start small and go from there. Soon you will be hooked.
The more I have read the Bible, the more awe of it I am. God’s salvation plan is so amazing and you can see it from the beginning. How beautifully it is woven into the tapestry of grace. I’ve read the Bible many times, yet there still are many mysteries. Thankfully I don’t have to know everything in order to enjoy God through it. Meeting God in his Word is what makes the Bible special. And it’s what makes every single thing in life special by giving us meaning and hope everlasting.
You are so good to us.
Thank you for loving us so
and giving us your Word.
Draw us deeper into you.
Show each of us how special
meeting you in your Word really is.
In Jesus’ name,
Q4U: What is your favorite Bible translation and why? Why do you read the Bible?
Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you start/return meeting God in his Word!
