God Does not Abandon You

God Does not Abandon You

God does not abandon youDo you have abandonment issues? Are you afraid of people leaving you? As a child that would be catastrophic but as an adult we can take it. We don’t have to be afraid of being left alone even if we hate it. Of course, even that knowledge does not fully take away our fear and dislike of abandonment. But God does if we let him. Because God does not abandon you. Ever.

For He has said, “I will never[under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you[assuredly not]!” So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently say, The Lord is my Helper [in time of need], I will not be afraidWhat will man do to me?” (Hebrews 13 5b-6, AMP)

God does not abandon you

Even if your own mother and father abandon you, God does not abandon you. And if you feel like even he has abandoned you, God has not and does not abandon you. How do I know this? Abandon simply is not part of God. Love is. It’s simply not possible for God to abandon you. Even if you abandon him, he does not abandon you. Ever. So you can count on God always being there.

Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble in dread before them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not fail you or abandon you. (Deut. 31:6, AMP)

This changes everything, doesn’t it? When you are a child of God, you will never be alone and abandoned. And when you have God on your side, rest assured, you are never unloved and uncared for. This is something you need to experience yourself. The more devastated I’ve been, the sweeter God’s healing grace has been. Cry to God when you feel discouraged and abandoned. Let the Holy Comforter wrap you in God’s sustaining and empowering grace.

Gracious God,
How blessed we are to know
you will not abandon us in any circumstances.
Thank you for loving us so deeply
and so unconditionally.
Enable us to truly rest in you.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

What about you?

Q4U: Do you have abandonment issues? What does help you to deal with it?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you slowly learn to completely trust God and his love for you.

God’s love is meteoric,
    his loyalty astronomic,
His purpose titanic,
    his verdicts oceanic.
Yet in his largeness
    nothing gets lost;
Not a man, not a mouse,
    slips through the cracks.

How exquisite your love, O God!
How eager we are to run under your wings,
To eat our fill at the banquet you spread
as you fill our tankards with Eden spring water.
You’re a fountain of cascading light,
and you open our eyes to light.
(Psalm 36:5-9, MSG)
