The Way of Jesus

The Way of Jesus

the way of JesusOftentimes Christians seem strange. And I wholeheartedly agree. Anyone who pledges faithfulness to an invisible force must be nuts, right? But when you experience the touch of Jesus yourself, everything suddenly becomes clearer and the Bible finally makes sense. The way of Jesus is not a secret yet it is hard to understand without taking a risk and plunging in. I highly recommend it. In my experience, nothing compares to it. Call me crazy but just a drop of Jesus makes life worth living.

I count everything as loss compared to the priceless privilege and supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord [and of growing more deeply and thoroughly acquainted with Him—a joy unequaled]. For His sake I have lost everything, and I consider it all garbage, so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him [believing and relying on Him], not having any righteousness of my own derived from [my obedience to] the Law and its rituals, but [possessing] that [genuine righteousness] which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith. 10 And this, so that I may know Him [experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely] and [in that same way experience] the power of His resurrection [which overflows and is active in believers], and [that I may share] the fellowship of His sufferings, by being continually conformed [inwardly into His likeness even] to His death [dying as He did]; 11 so that I may attain to the resurrection [that will raise me] from the dead. (Phil. 3:8-11, AMP, emphasis added)

The way of Jesus

The way of Jesus is not flashy or trendy yet is blesses us more than anything else ever could. It’s a quiet way to reel wisdom from God and putting it into practice in one’s own life. The way of Jesus is recognizing there is something more than this visible world and surrendering to the one who is control of it all. Sometimes life gets so hectic that I don’t have much time to linger in God’s presence and then I almost feel like drowning. But even then just a drop of Jesus balances my life. What am I talking about?

I have found it helpful to learn to draw near to Jesus no matter where I am. That brings peace and calm to me and, probably needless to say, it does make a huge difference to my well-being. It also enables me to ask and receive God’s guidance on the roll. And, yet, God’s will is not all the time crystal clear to us but we do find it as we prayerfully seek his will.

Getting acquainted with God

The way of Jesus is learning to communicate with God on regular basis. It’s about participating in following Jesus wherever he leads us and no matter how odd and strange the way of Jesus sometimes seems. Hence it’s about surrendering our agendas and living prayerfully with God.

What is truly wonderful about the way of Jesus is that it is unique for each of us (because our needs are different) and evolves throughout our lives (because we and our circumstances change). Hence it’s always relevant for us because Jesus is walking right along with us and thus knows intimately what we need.

You shall walk [that is, live each and every day] in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long in the land which you will possess. (Deut. 5:33, AMP)

The way of Jesus is leading us to eternal life and light. It’s all about receiving grace upon grace and hanging on to Jesus and following him. The Holy Spirit enables us to keep on becoming more like Jesus. The way of Jesus is the way of blessings. It’s about getting ready for the big party at Jesus’ feet. That’s why the best is yet to come. Death is not a loss to followers of Jesus. It’s gain.

Gracious God,
Thank you for your grace that changes us inside out
and help us to see the world with your eyes.
We love you and want to follow your ways.
Empower us to live and love like you and
make us more and more like you.
Take care of us and bless us as you see fit.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Are you a follower of Jesus? What does keep you on the way?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you get acquainted with Jesus!

    1. I think Jesus is closest to us when we need him most or can’t see him. So trust that he is right there with you. And ask Jesus to give you what you need. Sometimes we need to wait for a breakthrough but it will come. Thanks so much, Paula, for commenting and sharing your heart. I appreciate it. Blessings upon blessings!

  1. Yes, I am a follower of Jesus. For me, there’s no other way to live. Sometimes I wander away but He gently draws me back, and for that, I am so grateful. Walking by faith is the only way! Love your post, Mari-Anna.
