Walking in Freedom

Walking in Freedom

Walking in freedom, flowingfaith.comToday I want to share a quote about the difference being set free and walking in freedom. It reminds us that even being saved is not all God has for us. He wants us also keep on walking in freedom and live in light and love. Because he has provided everything for us to do so. Even walking in freedom is not to be done on our own power but in his strength and by his grace. This is Christian living, this is grace.

I will walk about in freedom,
for I have sought out your precepts.
(Psalm 119:45, NIV)

Walking in Freedom

Here’s the quote by Christine Caine: “Being set free and walking in freedom are not the same. The first was done for us by Jesus, but the second we must choose to do ourselves in His strength and by His grace.” God is ready to provide his strength and the power of grace for you to start walking in freedom and light. What do you do? Do you start walking in faith towards freedom? Or do you stay behind in darkness and fear?

Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover or pretext for evil, but [use it and live] as bond-servants of God. Show respect for all people [treat them honorably], love the brotherhood [of believers], fear God, honor the king. (1 Peter 2:16-17, AMP)

Living out faith

It’s time to start living out our faith. Not on our own power but in his strength and by his grace. When we are walking in freedom, we are able to experience all that God has for us. Then we are not slaves for sin or other people’s opinions. Hence we can live and love like Jesus because it really is Jesus living and loving through us.

What puzzles me is this: why do God’s people choose to skip walking in freedom. We toss it aside like it’d make us and life dull and boring. When in reality it makes us and life light-hearted and grace-filled. Yet then – only then – we are truly receptive to God’s blessing. Walking in freedom changes everything. Just think. Free of faking, free of struggling to be enough or do enough. All that is possible in Jesus. Oh, yes. I will continue walking in freedom. Nothing less will do.

Gracious God,
Thank you for sending Jesus to break us free from death and destruction.
Forgive us for not walking in freedom,
especially because you’ve even provided strength and power to do so in Jesus.
Kindle in us a persisting desire to walking in freedom.
Show us what it really means,
let us experience everything freedom in you can be.
Live with us, walk with us, stay with us.
Thank you, Lord. We love you!
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Are you walking in freedom? How is it like for you?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you embrace Jesus and all God has for you. Keep on walking in freedom and celebrating life!
