Prayer from a New Perspective

Prayer from a New Perspective

Prayer from a new perspectiveHow do you define prayer? Prayer is communication with God. It is pouring out our soul to God. Also, prayer is as important as breathing for Christians. All these things are great and prayer is really awesome. But I heard yesterday a definition of prayer that led me to look prayer from a new perspective.

Pastor Jämsen said yesterday ‘prayer is us turning away from our potential opportunities’. We stop trying to solve everything ourselves and turn to God to receive whatever he has.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6, NIV)

Prayer from a new perspective

Because Jesus is the way and the truth and the life, we receive all that when we turn to God. That’s all good, right. But that’s not all folks. If we see prayer from a new perspective as turning away from our own opportunities, then we also turn away from dead ends, lies, and death when we turn to Jesus. Quite an exchange, isn’t it?

Why would we insist on trying to manage on our own when it leads to dead ends, lies, and death? I’m out. Because I want to turn to Jesus and receive the way and the truth and the life. In abundance. Please, do join me. Let’s turn to Jesus and leave our own plans and chances behind. Let’s welcome whatever God has for us today and always.

Let us pray

Gracious God,
Forgive us for even thinking we could ever get out of dead ends, lies, and death on our own.
We turn to you, choose you who is the way, the truth, and the life.
Give us whatever you want to give us, whatever we need.
Show us what is your plan for each of us.
And thank you for being there with each step of the way.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen

Q4U: What do you think? Does thinking prayer from a new perspective change anything in/for you?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you turn away from dead ends, lies, and death and turn to Jesus
