How to Reach Your Full Potential

How to Reach Your Full Potential

How to increase your potentialMost people seem to think it’s up to them to reach their full potential. They think it’s about will-power and dedication and, yes, those are good qualities. Yet life, success, and reaching your full potential is not at the end about you. And even if you would do everything in your power to reach your full potential, you would still have not reached all you can be. Because just as some parts of our identity is hidden in Christ, so is some of our potentials. Without God, we don’t even dream big enough dreams to be all that we can be.

And [I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God’s people) (Eph. 1:18, AMP,*).

Charles Stanley has said, “Your potential is the sum of all the possibilities God has for your life.” So don’t just count in your own possibilities but embrace also everything God has for you. In Christ, your potential goes far beyond your own abilities. As a child of God, all that is Jesus’, is yours. So make your plans big, because in Christ your potential is beyond belief.

How to reach your full potential

For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us]. (Eph.2:10, AMP,*)

We are called to do amazing things for God. Hence our full potential includes everything that God has planned for our lives. Let’s not limit God but surrender our wills to him and let him do in and through us whatever he has planned for us to do. Because it is far more and better than we even dare to hope or dream.

Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us (Eph. 3:20, AMP,*).

Believe or not, surrender is the way to reach our full potential. Then Christ can work in and through us according to his plans and possibilities (and not ours). Hence when you do surrender, your potential increases exponentially. With the words of Watchman Nee “When the fruit of your service is out of all proportion to the gifts you possess, THAT is Blessing!”

Gracious God,
You are so good to us.
Thank you for saving us
and then calling to live with you
and work with you.
We surrender all that we are and have to you, Lord.
Use us for your glory.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you let God increase your potential according to his good plans for you!
