Only God Can Satisfy Your Heart

Only God Can Satisfy Your Heart

Only God can satisfy your heartHave you had enough of shallow experiences, ready to look for something deeper, more substantial? Do you have a deep yearning for God? Good for you. It is a universal experience of emptiness that often drives people finally to God. Nothing but God satisfies our hearts but he truly does. Only Jesus can fill our emptiness but he does it beautifully. First, he cleanses our inner being from webs of harmful substitutes and then he fills us with his peace and joy. So do not hesitate any more, turn to God. He is waiting for you. Only God can satisfy your heart.

O God, You are my God; with deepest longing I will seek You;
My soul [my life, my very self] thirsts for You, my flesh longs and sighs for You,
In a dry and weary land where there is no water.
(Psalm 63:1, AMP)

If you do long for God, you are already blessed. God is calling your name and he is waiting for you. Only God can satisfy your heart. But when we open our heart to God, we breathe in his Spirit. Just like the Bible says, God is better than life . Better than life! That’s how sweet it is to know God. So let’s not be satisfied with shallow or second-hand knowledge of God. Let’s dig down deep and get to know God intimately. It’s better than life. Believe me. Or at least the psalmist:

So I have gazed upon You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise You.
(Psalm 63:2-3, AMP)

When we linger in God’s presence, we get to experience God’s power and see his glory. That’s when our hollowness disappears and happiness fills out every corner of our inner being. Then praise is continually on our lips, even when life shows its darker shades. Happiness is not about circumstances, it’s experiencing God’s sweet presence.

So will I bless You as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name.
My soul [my life, my very self] is satisfied as with marrow and fatness,
And my mouth offers praises [to You] with joyful lips.
(Psalm 63:4-5, AMP)

We yearn for God, he satisfies us, and we praise him. That’s the circle of faith. It starts with God calling us and then blessing us with his Spirit who in turn tunes our hearts for worship. The Christian life can be continual praise. It is meant to be that. May it be so.

Gracious God,
You’re so good to us.
Faith is your gift to us from start to finish.
You call us to you
and when we turn to you,
you satisfy us
and bless us with your Spirit,
tune our hearts for continual worship.
Be praised, Lord.
You’re better than life!
We want to get to know you.
Show us your power and glory.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you believe that only God can satisfy your heart?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you seek God and let him bless you with his presence!
