Seek More of God

Seek More of God

Seek more of God

This Lenten season is a wonderful opportunity to see if we’re putting something else than God into the first place in our lives. What does take up the most of your time? Or what occupies your mind most? It’s so easy to get distracted and start caring more of Netflix or hobbies than God Almighty. Sometimes we need to do less in order to see what’s important and what’s not. When we do less, we can seek more of God.

Time spent with God is never wasted. When we want more of God, our lives are changed for the better. So we are to seek first God and everything else will work out. This is God’s will for us.

But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also. (Matthew 6:33, AMP,*)

Seek more of God

However, sometimes our Lenten efforts backfire. Our aim is to ready ourselves to Easter joy but sometimes we get off track. We start focusing on the process or our own sacrifices instead of focusing more on God as intended. Don’t get me wrong, I am a big fan of the season of Lent. But we do have this capacity to turn good things into bad without noticing it. What to do then? We just need to make sure we’re seeking God, not self-righteousness. So let’s seek more of God every way we can imagine. God wants us to know him.

I want you to know me
more than I want burnt offerings
.
(Hosea 6:6b, NLT,*)

How could we seek more of God then? Simply by praying and meditating the Bible. By listening, waiting on God. Just seek more of God and he will show you the way. How about reserving every day a bit more time for God? You will soon notice the difference. God blesses everyone who seeks more of him. So skip piety for piety’s sake. Seek more of God and you will be blessed.

Gracious God,
Thank you for wanting us to know you.
We desire to do so, Lord.
Help us to carve more time for you.
Show us how to spend time with you.
Enable each of us to experience
the exhilarating feeling of being loved by you.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you diligently seek more of God? How do you do it?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you find creative ways to spend more time with God!
