Sometimes we think that our lack of certain qualities would bar us from God’s love and acceptance. But we could not be further from the truth. Really. We might even be embarrassed by our faults yet they are ways grace gets in us.

Yes, that’s right. Because we need and want Christ, we get grace upon grace. And because we are broken, God’s light gets in us. In that sense, our faults pave away for grace to come.

When we think we are not enough, we are precisely empty enough to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Blessedly there are so many ways grace gets in us. They’re all about us lacking something so there is a place for grace to get in. When we need grace, God fills the need. It’s that simple, hallelujah.

For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift]. (John 1:16, AMP)

Ways grace gets in us

This does not mean we’d stop growing in grace but this means that we can stop worrying about not being perfect. We are beloved children of God right now, right here. God will not love us any more one day in the future when we have become more like Christ. He loves us beyond measure right this minute.

So let’s celebrate all the ways grace gets in us. This, of course, means we celebrate our lack of competence in certain areas and that might sound strange. But when we are weak, Christ is strong in us. When we need Christ, we are filled to the brim and overflowing with God’s goodness.

In God’s way of thinking, we can’t lose. When we are his, we are victorious. Let’s remember that and celebrate that. We are blessed beyond measure.

Dear God,
You are so good to us.
Your love is so life-changing and life-giving
that we can’t help but love you back.
Shine on us, Lord.
Heal us, Lord.
Fill us with your grace to overflowing
so that all whom we encounter
could experience some of your amazing love too.
Be praised forever and ever!
