Worthy of God’s Love and Grace

Worthy of God’s Love and Grace

worthy of God's love and grace

Do you consider yourself worthy of God’s love and grace? Worthy of eternal life and other God’s blessings? I hope so. Because then you’re open to God and to salvation by grace and not by merit. Let me explain.

I love reading the Acts during the Easter season. It’s great to see what disciples did after the resurrection of Jesus. Today a few words from Paul and Barnabas’ message to the Jews touched my heart and got me thinking.

Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. (Acts 13:46, NIV, emphasis added)

According to Paul and Barnabas, they did not consider themselves worthy of eternal life, worthy of God’s love. By rejecting the Word of God the Jews made themselves unworthy.

How about us? Do we reject the Word of God – or anything life-giving – because we do not consider ourselves worthy of eternal life or other God’s blessings?

Worthy of God’s Love and Grace

This is serious business, my friend. I suspect we do exactly that, we reject God because we think we are not worthy of him. Also, we might unconsciously deny ourselves good things – life-giving things – because we think we are not worthy.

But our worth comes from God. No one is worthy based on their own merits. God has created us and loves us so much that he has prepared salvation in Jesus for us.

Because of Jesus, it’s time you start to consider yourself worthy of God’s love and grace, worthy of eternal life and God’s other blessings. Treat yourself with love and respect.

Worthy of eternal life and blessings

We are precious and worthy as God’s children. When we see this, we are able to receive God’s grace and eternal life as God’s gifts. If not, we reject them and turn away from God. Or try to make ourselves worthy or save ourselves by works and by doing so we reject God all over again.

If you feel unworthy, ask God to show you how precious you are to him. Or if you feel that you do not need God’s grace or any of God’s gift, ask God to show you why you – just like everyone else – deeply need God’s grace. He will answer.

God’s heart is full of love and grace for everyone. Do not harden your heart and turn away from God. Instead, receive God’s gifts with thanksgiving. Praise God for his love. Rejoice in the joy of salvation. Because of Jesus, you are worthy of God’s love and grace. Nothing will ever change that.

Gracious God,
Thank you for your unconditional love.
Help us to see ourselves with your eyes:
we are worthy of your love and grace.
Because of you we are worthy of eternal life and blessings.
Thank you so much.
We love you and praise you forevermore.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you consider yourself worthy of God’s love and grace, eternal life, and blessings? Why/why not?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you receive salvation and eternal life by grace through faith in Jesus!
