Let Jesus Speak within You

Let Jesus Speak within You

Let Jesus speak within you

My heart aches for religious people who know of Jesus but don’t truly know him. Religion doesn’t save us, only Jesus does. We are not called to rule-keeping, we are called to live by faith. For that we need Jesus. And he brings life upon life. So let Jesus speak within you. Let Jesus speak life into you.

The sheep that are My own hear My voice and listen to Me; I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they will never, ever [by any means] perish; and no one will ever snatch them out of My hand. (John 10:27-28, AMP)

With the words of Henri Nouwen: “I know that I have to move from speaking about Jesus to letting him speak within me, from thinking about Jesus to letting him think within me, from acting for and with Jesus to letting him act through me. I know the only way for me to see the world is to see it through his eyes.’

This is what faith is all about: knowing and trusting Jesus always and in every situation. But there are no shortcuts into spiritual intimacy. Knowledge of Jesus does not do it. Working on our own for or with Jesus doesn’t cut it. But when you let Jesus speak within you day after day, you get to know Jesus’ heart. When you let Jesus act throughout your life, you are becoming more like Jesus.

Let Jesus Speak within You

How do you let Jesus speak within you then? Just sit in silence, pray and listen. Read Scriptures and open your heart to what the Holy Spirit whispers to you. Make time for it and you will hear Jesus speak within you. And don’t stop listening when you finish your quiet time. Keep your spirit tuned to the Holy Spirit and you can experience the presence of God wherever you go.

Where there is despair, doubt or distress, Jesus speaks hope, love, and joy. Each and every day Jesus speaks grace into your life. And all the time Jesus speaks life over you. So listen. Let Jesus speak within you. He will guide you, build you up, bless you. More than you can imagine.

Gracious God,
Thank you for inviting us to become close to you.
Spiritual intimacy with you is what we want.
So speak within us.
Let us hear your voice, make your will clear and dear to us.
How wonderful it is to be loved by you.
Be praised forever and ever.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you let Jesus speak within you?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you learn to commune with God.
