Preparing for the Future

Preparing for the Future

Preparing for the future

One of the best ways to prepare for the future is – surprise, surprise – to reminisce the past. It’s something you can do while sunbathing on the beach or resting in the hammock. Who knew preparing for the future could be this fun?

Here are three questions to help you in the process:

  1. When has God proved to be faithful in your life?
  2. Have you experienced God’s guidance in your life? If yes, when?
  3. When have you marveled God’s timing in your life?

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.

(Lamentations 3:22-23, ESV,*)

We read about God’s faithfulness in the Bible and we hear how God has acted in other people’s lives but we need to regularly remember how God has proved to be faithful in our own lives. Why is this important?

Only when we remember that God truly is faithful also in our life, we dare to stake our life on God. Otherwise, we try to make it on our own and that does not work that well, does it?

Preparing for the future

So take some time off this summer and reminisce. Remember all the little details that have proved God’s faithfulness in your life. You even might want to write them down for future reference.

God has been faithful to you so far. Sure, there have been some tough times but God has gotten you through. And God has promised to take care of you until the end. Just as he has been faithful this far, he will be faithful in the future. You can count on it. God is faithful in the beginning, middle, and end.

God is faithful [He is reliable, trustworthy and ever true to His promise—He can be depended on], and through Him you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. (1 Cor. 1:9, AMP,*)

Now that you’ve been reminded of God’s faithfulness, you can start preparing for the future fearlessly. God Almighty is on your side. What are you going to do differently now? Pray hard. Be bold. Then off you go with God.

Gracious God,
You’re so wonderful.
Thank you for reminding us of your faithfulness.
Forgive us forgetting it.
Help us to trust you
and base our lives on your promises.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: How do you answer to these questions? And how are you preparing for the future?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you reminisce your past and gear towards the future with God!
