God’s Willingness to Help

God’s Willingness to Help

God's willingness to help

Once again I am taken by a short verse in the Bible. It amazes me how the Word of God can feed us precisely what we need most. And it’s most certainly a verse that I’ve read many times yet it still clears my head and helps me to breathe more deeply. It reminds me of God’s willingness to help me. And when I remember that I am ready to tackle anything life throws at me.

When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.

(Ps. 56:3, NRSV)

Nine short words later I am filled with hope. This verse shows us how we are to deal with life: Whatever happens we put our trust in God. I am not asked to conquer the world, I am asked to put my trust in God. I feel I can do that, God will take care of the rest. (And if you’re not able to put your trust in God on your own, just ask for help. God’s grace will enable you to trust him.)

It’d be helpful if turning to God would be our first reaction whenever we meet challenges in life. The more we practice this in small issues, the more readily we do it when we are over our heads. So start practicing this when all is well and when you truly are afraid, you know to whom you can turn. And who you can trust.

God’s Willingness to Help

You know, God’s willingness to help is phenomenal. He will not let us down. And God delivers. Beautifully and bountifully. Don’t take my word, read it from the Bible:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation, who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God. (2. Cor 1:3-4, NRSV)

God consoles us. Not just a little bit but so much that then we will be able to console others. God delivers peace, courage, joy, hope, faith, boldness, energy, all that we need to live victoriously. God’s willingness to help is astronomical, there are no bounds for his help.

So do not forget to eat and drink spiritually. Otherwise, you will forget how good and generous our heavenly Father is and you will not remember what to do when fear strikes.

Do not be afraid, the Bible tells over and over again. It’s time to believe. And live like it.

Gracious God,
You are an awesome God.
Thank you for taking such good care of us.
Help us to turn to you with everything
so we would remember you when storms roll in.
Pour out grace upon grace
and console us, refresh us, renew us.
Empower us for victorious living.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: How are you doing? Do you remember God when a catastrophe strikes?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you choose Jesus every day!
