Lasting and Worthwhile

Lasting and Worthwhile

Lasting and worthwhile

Fast food, fast fashion, fast anything seems to lead us to destruction. They spoil our appetites for anything lasting and worthwhile. This fast way of thinking corrupts our hearts and minds. It seems there is nothing lasting these days. Yet only things that last are truly valuable, don’t you think?

This leads me thinking whether the things I do will stand the test of time or not. Do I waste my time on things that are fast and fun but do not have any lasting value? Sigh.

You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. (John 15:16, NLT, emphasis added,*)

We are appointed to go and produce lasting fruit. Not just fruit for the moment but lasting fruit, something that has eternal value. How about you? Are you producing lasting fruit?

Lasting and Worthwhile

If producing lasting fruit is what you desire to do in this life, abide in Jesus. Abide in Jesus and let the Holy Spirit work in and through you. The more we focus on Jesus, the more lasting fruit we will bear.

Why then are we satisfied with the bare minimum? Shouldn’t we be thrilled to produce more and more fruit, especially the lasting kind?

It’s so easy to get distracted with tv shows and fashion magazines and sports events. All fun and games, right? But they do not help us to produce lasting fruit.

How to find balance in life? It’s all starts (and ends) by seeking Jesus, abiding in him. He will show us the way. He is the way. The truth. And the life everlasting.

Gracious God,
Forgive us for spending our time with things that do not have eternal value.
Draw us to you, Lord.
Show us all how wonderful it is to abide in you.
Enable us to recognize your loving presence and rejoice in it.
Produce lasting fruit through us, Lord.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Are you producing lasting fruit?

Blessings to you, my dear fellow pilgrim, as you seek Jesus and abide in him!
