Let’s Anchor Ourselves in God and Let Him Guide us into the Future

Let's anchor ourselves in God and let him guide us into the future

How are you feeling about the ending of one year and the beginning of the new one? Sometimes we are a bit resentful. Other times we can’t quite get rid of the old one soon enough. No matter how you possibly feel now, know that you’re safe in God’s arms. All the promises of God are valid any year, so you’re good, all the time because God is good, all the time. So let’s anchor ourselves in God and let Him guide us into the future. God’s will for us is the ultimate best for each of us.

What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole. (1 Peter 1:3-5, MSG,*)

We don’t need to know what the new year will hold because we know and love the one who is holding the new year in his hands. God knows what’s going to happen to each of us. We can trust him to take care of us no matter what. How blessed we are to have a heavenly Father like that!

Let’s anchor ourselves in God and let Him guide us into the future

The best thing we can do as we enter the new year is to embrace God more because the more we enjoy God, the happier we are. Enjoying God is our destiny and while we wait for Jesus’ to come back, our calling is to share God’s love with others. And as we do it, we’re fulfilling his purpose for us.

So let’s anchor ourselves in God and let Him lead us to the future. Let’s dream with God, not on our own. And let’s ask God to empower us to do what he asks us to do. Because our hope is in God, not in our ability to plan and execute our plans. When we get this, we are already on the right track as we enter the new decade. It’s about God, not about us. And his plans for us are amazing. So let’s praise him!

Gracious God,
Forgive us the things we’ve done or left undone against your will.
Cleanse us from all unrighteousness and make us more like you.
We dump all our fears at the foot of the cross and ask you to open our future for us, we surrender to you.
Bless us, guide us, empower us.
Thank you for always being there for us.
We praise you forevermore.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
