Meeting Jesus Changes You

Meeting Jesus changes you

Do you remember the story of Jesus and the woman of Samaria at the well? It is quite the story, isn’t it? Every time I read it I gain a new understanding. I won’t go into every detail here, instead, I just want to share what spoke to me loudest this time around. Meeting Jesus changes you, my friend. When we encounter Jesus, our fears disappear.

The fact the Samaritan woman was at the well in the middle of the day, speaks loudly that she was an outcast. She came to the well when nobody else did so she could avoid meeting anybody. Her life had come to this and there seemed no way out. But then Jesus sought her out and everything changed for her.

That’s what the living water does, meeting Jesus changes you. Just look at what the Samaritan woman does after her encounter with Jesus. She goes directly to the people she used to avoid and invites them to Jesus. Talk about a changed life, right?

When we encounter Jesus, our fears disappear. The woman could not anymore care less about what the people taught about her. Jesus had seen her, valued her, loved her and by doing so she was transformed.

Meeting Jesus changes you, my friend. This still happens when we encounter Jesus in prayer and praise. We are all invited to this divine intimacy, this transformative relationship with Jesus. And not only once in our lifetime but to continually live in it. We can live fearlessly in Jesus where we are loved and cherished and empowered for loving others as we are loved.

Jesus is amazing. His love is something else. The world loves the beautiful and successful. But Jesus loves outcasts and bankrupt. Jesus loves you and me. So much that he does not leave us as he finds us. No. When we meet Jesus, our fears disappear and we are transformed to become what God has created us to be.

So let’s seek Jesus daily and let him do as he pleases with us. Living in that radical love and care is the best that can ever happen to us. Nothing quite like it. But what a glorious thing it is. Hallelujah!

Gracious God,
Thank you for loving us so.
We are so blessed that you go out of your way to meet us.
Thanks for sending Jesus to meet us and transform us.
We surrender to your love, change us according to your plans.
Be praised forever and ever!
In Jesus’ powerful name,
Amen
