Prayer Is the Most Important Work

Prayer Is the Most Important Work

Prayer is the most important work

Do you feel you’re not that talented? Not gifted enough to make a difference? You’re wrong, my dear friend. Let me tell you, being ordinary is not a stumbling block, it’s a stepping stone for the most important work: prayer.

Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7, AMP,’)

We are all called to pray but many neglect it. Yet prayer is the most important work. It’s also the greatest talent there is. With the words of Alexander Whyte “The greatest and best talent that God gives to any man or woman in this world is the talent of prayer.”

Prayer is the most important work

Don’t tell me you don’t have the talent of prayer. We all do. It’s a gift from God. We just need to practice it. And as they say, practice makes perfect. The more we pray, the more we learn to love it. And the more we love prayer, the better we get at it. Soon we can’t live without prayer.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. (Eph. 6:18, NIV,*)

Prayer paves ways for God’s miracles. Through prayer, we are partners in God’s work. We don’t need to have any special talents to be significant in God’s plans, we just need to be faithful in prayer. Just think about it, praying is the greatest talent you could ever have. Use it and celebrate while using it, you’re partnering with the Almighty God.

You’re needed because God shapes the world with prayer. As E.M. Bounds has said, “Prayer is the greatest of all forces, because it honors God and brings him into active aid.” Without prayer, we are powerless. Why would we choose powerlessness when God has given us the gift of prayer? It’s beyond me. Prayer is the most important work because by means of it we can carry on the rest.

Gracious God,
Forgive our prayerlessness.
Thanks for inviting us to partake in your work.
May all your plans become a reality,
help us to do our part in them.
Ignite a spirit of prayer within us,
make us desire to pray more and more,
so that abiding in you would be our choicest way of life.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
