God’s Protection

God’s Protection

God's protection

As the Coronavirus spreads fear around the world, it’s time to remind ourselves of a few facts. No, I’m not telling you to wash your hands and such. I’m urging you to reminds yourself of some spiritual facts about God’s protection and reasons to be fearless in this seemingly fearful season.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

(Ps. 91:1-7, NIV)

  1. God is in control even now. It might not look like it but nonetheless it is true. There is no need to worry. Be wise, yes, but do not worry. Pray hard and trust God for all your needs.
  2. You won’t die before it’s the preplanned day for you to die. Often we think people die “before their time” but that’s not true. God has planned the length of our life out before we were born. We can trust God will take care of us until that day.
  3. God’s protection is real. We don’t have to fear anything for God will protect us from all evil. There’s nothing in this world that can hinder God’s plan for us. His identity is to guard and shield, we can rest in him. God’s got you covered.
  4. In the worst-case scenario (in the world’s eyes) we die but for Christians, death is a gateway into Jesus’ arms. And if it is in God’s plans for us, it is the ultimate best for us.

God’s protection

I don’t mean to downplay people’s sufferings here, I keep on praying for the sick and all in harm’s way. But when our world as we know turns upside down, it is a good time to be a Christian. God’s protection is real and our hope doesn’t dwindle when life gets tough. Instead, it shines even brighter. Our hope is powerful and eternal, there’s nothing to take it away from us. So let’s not give it away either.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

(Ps. 121:7-8, NIV)

If you are afraid (for any reason), spend more time with Jesus. Surrender your worries, plans, and life to him. Stay in prayer and in the Word of God until the peace of God descends into your heart and until the praise flows from your lips. Peace, calm, and joy are the trademarks of every Christian who abides in Jesus. Claim yours, God is waiting for you.

Gracious God,
Thank you for being always in control even when it does not look like it.
We praise you for protection and loving care.
Thank you for having a plan for each of us,
help us to surrender to your will.
Fill us with your peace, joy, and calm.
Help us to make wise decisions and spread your peace in the midst of these fearful times.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Are you afraid of the Coronavirus? How do you deal with it?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you embrace God for protection and safe-keeping. May the Lord bless you and keep you!
