Jesus Brings Everything

Jesus Brings Everything

Jesus brings everything

Today I was thinking about God’s goodness. How God has chosen us in Christ even before he made the world. He prepared salvation for us through Jesus so we could be united with him. Amazing. The fact is, we bring nothing to the table except our sin and need to be rescued. Jesus brings everything, all the spiritual blessings, all the good things and then some.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love. He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. (Eph. 1:3-6, NRSV,*)

Jesus brings everything

In Christ we have everything. We have forgiveness of sins, salvation and eternal life. Through Christ, we also become children and heirs of God. Also, all the spiritual gifts, fruit and growth come when we abide in Christ.

We are dependent on Christ whether we wanted it or not. Without him, we hadn’t any hope for eternal life but with him, we have glorious hope and tremendous power to do God’s will. Through Christ, we have access to God’s presence and to his spiritual presents to his children. Let’s not forget about them and leave them unused.

We are called to live our lives with God. It’s true, we don’t bring anything to the table. But that’s the plan from the beginning. God knows us. He knows we can’t contribute anything. That’s why he sent Jesus: to save us and empower us for victorious living. Jesus brings everything we ever need. He invites us to his table. Let’s accept the invitation.

Gracious God,
Thank you for your goodness, for your perfect salvation plan for us.
We truly are dependent on Jesus.
Thank you for sending him to save us and to bring us everything we need.
Bless us, Lord, empower us for victorious living.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you believe you have everything in Christ or do you still try to contribute to your own salvation?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you embrace Jesus and all the good gifts of God!
