Drinking from the Well of Life

Drinking from the Well of Life

Drinking from the well of life

During my morning prayer time, I felt strongly God wanted to remind me (and you) he is the Living Water, the source of all the good things, and the spring of life eternal. They are all fantastic things, huge gifts of God to us. He is the provider, we are always the receivers. We just need to abide in him, continually, to keep on receiving. A few hours later, I came across this quote by Gloria Copeland and I realized God truly wants to speak to us today about drinking from the well of life:

It is easy in ministry or in life, to begin to rely on acquired knowledge instead of fresh knowledge revealed. We must maintain our union with Him to enjoy fresh oil and then there is no old oil. The life of God or presence of God can’t be stored, it has to be current. It is a well of life, continually outflowing. (Gloria Copeland)

We need to keep on drinking from the well of life, otherwise, our spiritual well-being is at stake. Manna could not be stored, neither can the presence of God today. We need to maintain our union with God in order to enjoy his presence and all the blessings that flow from that connection.

Surely God is my salvation;
    I will trust, and will not be afraid,
for the Lord God
[a] is my strength and my might;
    he has become my salvation.
With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvatio

(Isaiah 12:2-3, NRSV, emphasis added*)

Drinking from the Well of Life

You see, as hard as it might be to admit, we have no life in us if it were not for God. He gives every breath we take but it’s more than that. Anything good, beautiful, and worthwhile comes from the Lord. Alone we wither, with God we flourish, it’s that simple. The sooner we admit that the sooner we can bloom beautifully in him.

Lord, you are the hope of Israel;
    all who forsake you will be put to shame.
Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust
    because they have forsaken the Lord,
    the spring of living water.
Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed;
    save me and I will be saved,
    for you are the one I praise.

(Jeremiah 17:13-14, NIV.*)

Truly, we need a fresh supply of God every day, we need to keep on drinking from the well of life. If we do so, it is well in our soul. Even if we experience hardships of any kind, when we abide in Jesus, all is well. Because he has the words of eternal life.

So let’s keep our union with Christ current, he will do the rest. He will restore, refresh, revitalize us every time we come to him. So let’s do so. Faithfully. Eagerly. Joyfully.

Let us pray

Gracious God,
You’re so good to us.
First, you provide us everything for our salvation and
second, you provide everything for our spiritual well-being.
Thank you for keeping on inviting us to come to you and
thank you for welcoming us as we are but not leaving us as we are.
Teach us how to abide in you, how to maintain our union with Christ.
We need you to live fully and flourish.
Restore, refresh, and revitalize us.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
