This Too Shall Pass

This Too Shall Pass

This too shall pass

This is just a sweet, little note to encourage you in the middle of your hardships. Believe me, this too shall pass. It might not feel like it and even not look like it but it’s true. Even the Bible tells us so:

Nevertheless, that time of darkness and despair will not go on forever. (Isaiah 9:1, NLT,*)

If we keep on seeking God and turning to him, this time of darkness will turn into light. This will not go on forever. Because of Christ, we have hope, even in the darkest of times. This too shall pass.

The people who walked in darkness
    have seen a great light;
those who lived in a land of deep darkness—
    on them light has shined.

(Isaiah 9:2, NRSV,*)

This too shall pass

God is with us even now, so we keep on keeping on. Christ died for all our sins and our despair, so we don’t have to wallow in them. If you truly believe that, you realize what a huge deal it is. When we believe in Jesus, our burdens are lifted. And that is a game-changer.

If you have asked for forgiveness in Jesus’ name, you can be certain it is yours. So don’t go around any more carrying your own burdens, give them to Jesus [Don’t pick them up afterward. But if you do, keep dumping them at Jesus’ feet as many times as it takes for you to really leave them there.] and live freely.

You see, we are meant to live freely. Don’t let anything rope you down. Remind yourself of the gift of salvation, the empowering grace, and eternal hope every day. Then you don’t need to fear anything, not even death, and you can rejoice even in darkness.

Just having that much hope, gives us guts to go on, don’t you think? This too shall pass. Our time of despair will not go on forever. We have a bright future in Jesus.

Gracious God,
Thank you for the gift of salvation,
help us to receive it and live it out too.
Thank you, Jesus, for taking our place on the cross.
We give you all the distress we’re feeling,
all the burdens we’re still carrying,
we don’t want them anymore.
Forgive us for not believing we’re free in your name.
Empower us to live victoriously every single day.
Pour out hope upon hope
so we can keep on keeping on especially when things get tough.
Thanks for never leaving us or forsaking us.
Be praised forever and ever.
In your holy name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you walk freely in Jesus’ name?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you stick to Jesus in the middle of hardships. Truly, this too shall pass.
