Lately, inner peace seems to be it. Famous people tell here and there how they’re seeking and planning on achieving inner peace. But, my friend, do you know you what? You can’t earn or achieve inner peace. You receive it as a gift from Jesus. Yes. Jesus gives you inner peace. By grace.
Christianity doesn’t appear very trendy and some people don’t like that God gives so many good things free. Achieving something appears so much more noble and sophisticated. In Buddhism, they try to achieve enlightenment, and in many other religions, your goal is spiritualization through different rituals. But in Christianity, everything is already done, finished for us. We can only receive both salvation and inner peace by grace.
For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; 9 not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation]. 10 For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us]. (Eph. 2:8-10, AMP,*)
I don’t know about you but I receive inner peace while reading the Bible, when Truth is addressing me, reminding me of the Eternal God, who loves me just as I am with all my faults and everything. I feel harmonious and happy knowing my salvation and not my inner peace is dependent on me or my achievements.
Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. 7 And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours]. (Phil. 4:6-7, AMP,*)
Every morning I receive more inner peace while in prayer, as I speak with Jesus about my life and the challenges it brings. I receive confirmation of not being alone today either but being accompanied by God Almighty and that I may once again walk in prearranged paths.
Jesus gives inner peace
I am not an expert of Eastern religions but I am an expert by experience in Christianity. Jesus gives inner peace. It’s offered to anyone who wants it. When we believe in Jesus, we receive peace beyond understanding. Many people only dream of that kind of peace. It transcends understanding and at the same time empowers us for courageous living.
Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.] (John 14:27, AMP,*)
I would not like to live without inner peace. Especially when it is available for anyone, anywhere, anytime. So, please, do not go on without inner peace that only Jesus can give. Turn to Him and live in Him. That has timeless trendiness and radical love: Jesus died and rose again so that you could have grace, peace, and hope for eternal life.
Forgive us for seeking inner peace where we can’t find it.
Because only you can give us real peace and eternal hope.
We surrender to you and ask to be filled with your Spirit.
Come to us, Prince of Peace,
show us what it is to have truth and peace in you.
Thank you that we don’t have to live without you,
and that you’ve prepared everything for us.
We don’t deserve you or your love
but you love us because you are Love itself.
Teach us to live in your peace every moment of our lives.
Be forever praised, Holy one, our wonderful God.
In Jesus’ name,
Q4U: Do you have inner peace?
Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you seek Jesus and receive grace and inner peace for life and eternity!
