Go with The Spirit of Boldness

Go with The Spirit of Boldness

Go with the Spirit of Boldness

It’s already the end of January yet I have not achieved much this year. Of course, the pandemic keeps shutting everything down and it keeps us close to home. But I don’t think that’s what hinders us. It’s our bland visions and lack of boldness instead. Thankfully we can be inspired by the example of Paul:

For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die. (Phil. 1:20, NLT,*)

That’s how I want to live. With passion and boldness. So I’ve started to pray for the Spirit of Boldness. We can’t just sit on our hands, folks, because we’re called for action. With the words of R.C. Sproul, “Christ has commissioned us to be light and salt in this world. We have no option but to obey”.

Go with the Spirit of Boldness

On our own, we can’t do much and we should not even try to fulfill the call with our own strength. Because that’s not the point. The point is to be united with God, be strengthened by God. And then work with God.

A.B. Simpson has said, “One of the special marks of the Holy Ghost in the Apostolic Church was the spirit of boldness.” And that’s what I want to have. That’s what we all need. Otherwise, our dreams stay bland and we get nothing done when we refuse to get out of our comfort zone.

It can be fixed by the Spirit of boldness, not by our own effort. God wants to give us a clean heart, the mind of Christ, and the Spirit of boldness. Let’s say yes to God and his plans for each of us. Do not be afraid. Those plans are to bless you so you can bless others.

Dear God,
As you know we stay in our very own comfort zones,
forgive us for not trusting you enough.
But we want to be bold like the apostles.
So give us a clean heart, the mind of Christ,
and the Spirit of boldness.
Send your Holy Spirit to change us inside out
and use us for your glory and for the benefit of our neigbors.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you want to have the Spirit of Boldness?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you dare to follow Christ wherever he leads you!
