The Source of All Comfort

The Source of All Comfort

It seems to me that what we all need right now is comfort. The pandemic has been with us almost a year and the end is not quite there yet. We need to persevere but we are exhausted. Hence we need some comfort and new strength. Otherwise, we won’t make it. But do not fear, we are in good hands. The source of all comfort is our God.

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. (2 Cor 1:3-4; NLT, emphasis added,*)

You see, our heavenly Father is the source of all comfort. God truly wants to comfort you. So do not look elsewhere for comfort. Go directly to the source and bask in God’s love and care.

Our God is ….

One way to bask in God’s love is to read his Word. When I am in deed of comfort, I head straight to the Psalms. It only takes a line or two to remind me of God’s amazing love and I am comforted.

Yesterday I read “the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him” (Ps.32:10b, NIV), and my heart rejoiced. Today I was comforted with these words:

We put our hope in the Lord.
He is our help and our shield.
21 In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
22 Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord,
for our hope is in you alone.

(Psalm 33:20-22, NLT,*)

…the source of all comfort

God is our help and shield and he surrounds us with his unfailing love. We are safe in him. Our hope is not in vain. Our God is a living and loving God who knows us personally and will not quit. When I remember these facts, I am ready to face the pandemic and whatever may come. I bet you are too.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

(Isaiah 41:10, NLT,’)

Gracious God,
Help us to always remember how awesome you are,
and how much you love us.
We thank you for your ongoing support,
we are so blessed that you are the source of all comfort.
Bless us richly, Lord, so we can bless others in need.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: How are you doing?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you seek comfort from the Source of all comfort so you bless others who need it.
