One of the core Christian beliefs is God’s omnipotence. We think God can do anything and he has done some amazing things along with the salvation history, right? Indeed. So God is able. But would you also say Jesus is willing to help you?

Yeah. God is able but is he willing to help us? That’s the million-dollar question. Do you believe Jesus wants to help you? If you do not believe this, you will shy away from praying. You don’t embrace the promises of the Bible as your own and, most likely, you stay remote and your faith stagnates.

This is not what you want, is it? And, most certainly, this is not what you were called to. So onward, Christian soldiers! It’s time to embrace the fact Jesus is willing to help you. This will change how you approach him. No need to stay away. It’s time to run to Jesus. Just as you are.

Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. “Lord,” the man said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared. (Matthew 8:2-3, NLT,*)

Jesus is willing

The man with leprosy could not cleanse himself, yet Jesus welcomed him and even touched him. We don’t need to get our act together before approaching Jesus. He welcomes us as we are because he knows we can’t heal ourselves, we need him. As you see, Jesus is both able and willing.

Did you realize the outcast with leprosy did not wait for an invitation, he made a surprise visit to Jesus? His desire was that great, his belief in Jesus was that strong, he did anything to get to Jesus. We have a lot to learn from this man with leprosy, don’t you think? So we need to 1) go to Jesus and 2) believe he is our Lord, and then 3) ask for what we need.

Way too often we shy away from asking Jesus what we need because we don’t believe he’d be willing to help us. We think we are beyond help. But we are not. We might think we are repulsive but we are not. Jesus is waiting to reach out to us, to touch us, to heal us, to help us. So let’s not deny Jesus his heart’s desire.

Jesus is willing to help you. Let him do so.

Gracious God,
You are truly amazing,
you are not only able but you’re also willing to help us.
Please do so.
We come to you worshiping you,
you are our Almighty God,
just say a word and we will be helped.
Bless each of us as we need.
Cleanse us from all unrighteousness
Make us whole and use us for your glory.
In Jesus’ name,
