Do you ever doubt God’s existence or his power? I bet you do. It’s part of our faith journey. Just know that you don’t need to hide your doubts from God. Instead, bring them to him. Ask for His help to overcome them. Then your doubts become fuel for spiritual growth instead of dragging your spirit down.

“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:23-24, NIV,*)

This boy’s father shows us what to do when in doubt: come to Jesus, confess our inabilities and ask for his help. The only way to stay bold and strong in faith is to abide in Jesus. Daily. And this is how it is supposed to be, we are called to live and move in this grace he offers for us. When we do this – live our lives with God – everything we experience becomes fuel for spiritual growth. Nothing is wasted.

Fuel for Spiritual Growth

I need to be reminded of God’s goodness and power every single day. Otherwise, it’s way too easy to doubt God or forget his power. Either way, disasters follow. So I’ve learned to lean on God first thing in the morning. And it works. The Word of God speaks faith and hope into my soul like none other:

Therefore let all the house of Israel recognize beyond all doubt that God has made Him both Lord and Christ (Messiah, Anointed)—this Jesus whom you crucified.” (Acts 2:36, AMP,*)

Did you catch it? We are to know beyond all doubt God has made Jesus our Lord and Savior. We have a savior who loves us as we are yet doesn’t leave us where he finds us. Instead, he helps us to grow in his grace. Jesus uses our life experiences, doubts, and failures as fuel for spiritual growth. We are indeed in good and loving hands.

Gracious God,
We come to you as we are:
broken in one way or another,
doubting or questioning your truths now or then
but always in need of your love and grace.
Forgive, heal, make us whole.
Fill us with your truth, spirit, and grace.
Guide us, Lord.
Make us what you know we can be.
Use us for your glory and for the benefit of others.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you ever doubt God or his power? How do you deal with them?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you learn to give everything to God for fuel for spiritual growth!
