Today I want to share some joy and hope with you who feel you’re drowning deeper into despair or you might feel you’ve been forgotten to endlessly wander around in the everyday maze. Know that you’re not alone or the only one who struggles with these things. Easily we think life is easy for everyone else but I’d say, for most of us, life is some sort of struggle. Through them, God is teaching us and while we wait, the Holy Spirit prepares us for the future. It’s important to remember in these daily struggles, God wants the best for you. Always and forever.

I waited patiently for the Lord;
    he inclined to me and heard my cry.
He drew me up from the desolate pit,
    out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
    making my steps secure.

(Ps.40:1-2, NRSV,*)

I’m not sharing hope from my own hopefulness, it is used up fast and it’s not even enough for me. That’s why I drink from the well of hope that is everlasting and will never dry up. I invite you to this well also. Come. Let’s wait on the Lord together, he does hear our cries. And what’s most delightful: he will draw you up from the desolate pits and miry bogs whether they are real or symbolic. God will set your feet upon a rock and make your steps secure. Jesus is the rock who will not let you drown or go astray. He will help you and lead you home.

He put a new song in my mouth,
    a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
    and put their trust in the Lord.
Happy are those who make
    the Lord their trust,
who do not turn to the proud,
    to those who go astray after false gods.

(Ps.40:3-4, NRSV,*)

God wants the best for you

Sometimes our own false thoughts that we keep repeating hinder our journey. Let’s let these lies go and receive a new song in our mouths, a song of praise in our hearts. God is creating new things in us, so let’s not disturb the process with out bitter or fearful thoughts. Instead, let’s trust the Lord and let his grace work in us. Because happy are those who trust the Lord.

You have multiplied, O Lord my God,
    your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us;
    none can compare with you.
Were I to proclaim and tell of them,
    they would be more than can be counted.

(Psalm 40:5, NRSV,*)

And guess what, my friend, God wants the best for you. The Bible tells us so and we can believe it and count on it. This does not mean bad things would not ever happen to us, we’re not yet in paradise. But this does mean everything will work for our best, God can turn even the worst things for blessings. And sometimes we just need to wait longer than we’d like. Even then we can trust things will happen on time and in the best possible way. If only we could stop forcing things to happen our way and let them happen in God’s way. And if only we could learn to trust God and his promises every morning. Then our days – and life – would receive a new song, a song for God’s glory and for our blessing.

Dear God,
There’s none like you, be forever praised!
We surrender to you and rejoice that we are your children.
You want the best for us, how amazingly wonderful!
Help us to trust more and more in you
so that our life could become a praise song for you.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
