“The Bible is alive, it speaks to me”, Martin Luther said. That’s also my experience and that’s why I am hooked on reading it. Otherwise, I’d be lost. God is amazing, he does not abandon us. He cares for us and wants us to know it. Reading the Bible is a wonderful way to be reminded of these facts. At least I do need to hear it anew every morning. How about you?

As soon as I pray, you answer me;
you encourage me by giving me strength.

(Psalm 138:3, NLT)

Also, I love knowing God is listening to my prayers. Right then and there I am reminded I am never alone, he is with me. No matter how restless I feel when I approach God, I receive peace in his presence. In prayer, God encourages us, gives us his strength. Just as soon as I am reminded of this I am ready to face anything for I am not alone. God is with me every step of the way.

Though I am surrounded by troubles,
you will protect me from the anger of my enemies.
You reach out your hand,
and the power of your right hand saves me.
The Lord will work out his plans for my life—
for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever.
Don’t abandon me, for you made me.

(Psalm 138:7-8)

The Bible is alive …

My life might be a mess but my messiness or brokenness does not scare God away. He thrives in difficult situations. And so can we when we deal with our messes with the Lord. This is a huge blessing, I love knowing that I can’t mess up my life beyond God’s ability to help me. The Lord will work out his plans for my life – and yours. How blessed we are!

We can rest assured all is well even when we are surrounded by troubles. If only we could rest in his grace instead of wasting out time worrying endlessly. God works behind the scenes and in his time table. But we can trust him to see us through, to work things out for our good.

I can attest to this myself. There have been times when I’ve been so overwhelmed that I’ve thought there’s no way things can ever work out. But God is not hindered by our problems. Nothing is impossible for him. And he loves to take care of us. We just need to surrender and ask for help.

…and it speaks to me

The Bible is alive and it speaks to us if we care to listen. It tells us which way to go but most importantly it tells us whose we are and how loved we are. We don’t need to go this life alone feeling abandoned. Because when we are God’s, we are never alone.

We need reassurance and the Bible provides that for each of us. Ask for the Holy Spirit to open your heart to receive what God has for you. And be amazed. The Spirit will dwell in you and empower and embolden you for victorious living.

Gracious God,
Thank you for your living Word you’ve given for us.
Help us to take time to enjoy it every day of our lives.
We are amazed of you,
thank you for not being afraid of our troubles and chaotic lives.
Come and fill us with your Spirit.
Show us how to boldly live for you.
Bless us from head to toe, Lord.
We need you, we adore you, we praise you.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen

P.S.

Dear friend, you are loved beyond measure. Know it, revel in it. And live as you believe. Start living like a child of the King! Be generous with the grace you receive. The more you share, the more you receive. Dive in the Bible as often as possible. Ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you. He will. Then dance in grace! Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim. You are not alone.
