You Are Wildly Loved

Life is hard. And it gets even harder when we believe lies that keep us down. Mary DeMuth exposes ten lies and shares ten truths in her latest book Stop Living Small: Ten Truths Toward Your Significant Life. This post will tackle the first lie: you do not deserve love by showing how you are wildly loved instead.

You might think you don’t deserve love and all those wonderful Bible passages of God’s love do not apply to you. But you are so wrong. Even if you were the only person ever who needed to be rescued, Jesus would have died for you. You are wildly loved, my friend. You deserve love upon love.

Do not think your outer circumstances are hints about God’s love – or lack of it. Because they’re not. Neither are other people’s opinions. God’s love is absolute, he could not love you more. And there’s nothing that could make him love you any less. His love is more than we can understand fully in this side of eternity. But we can experience it as we embrace Jesus.

And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. (Eph. 3:18-19, NLT)

You are wildly loved

It’s a fact that you are wildly loved. The Bible tells us so. But it is indeed scary to venture out from the haunted house you’re so used to. With the words of Mary “But so many of us settle into the old house where lies about our value scream louder than the encouraging voice of Jesus. We think this is the house we were meant to live in. It becomes comfortable because the words are familiar”

What to do then? We can’t change ourselves but Jesus can. As Mary puts it “We need the mind of Christ to change our view”. This is grace. It’s not up to us to change ourselves because it’s the job of Jesus. He is in the business of transformation.

Mary continues “God radically transforms our hearts, making them better able to receive his love and the love of others. You won’t believe how amazing the transformation will be, so much so that you won’t even remember what life was like when you denied your worth.”

It’s definitively worth the risk of venturing out of your cave. Love is calling your name. And grace will be your power. Dare to do it, you are wildly loved.

So say goodbye to small life

So it’s time to say goodbye to small life. Mary writes “our belief in our smallness creates a small life. It keeps our eyes on ourselves, our shortcomings, our pile of sin. It takes our gaze away from God’s ability to change us, the amazing power of the cross to redeem us, the truth of our worth in God’s eyes.”

We can’t but God can. Let’s keep our eyes on Jesus and let him change us according to his plans for us. If we believe we are unworthy, we limit God in our lives. And we don’t want that, do we?

“Changing our minds about our value is spiritual warfare, plain and simple” Mary declares. “Choosing to believe the truth about God’s love for us not only transforms us but also ripples outward into the lives we touch. We no longer do things out of worry or fear or guilt, but we live an abundant life based on our settled place before Jesus.”

As the Bible tells us, God loves us as he loves Jesus. Our worth is not based on us but on Jesus. And his worth is beyond measure. So don’t you think, it’s time to embrace the fact you are wildly loved and say goodbye to small life? I do. I think it’s time to let God decide how beautiful and grand our lives will be. He can both dream it and deliver it. So let’s let him surprise us while we stick to Jesus and praise him forever and ever.

Dear God,
Forgive us for insulting you by our unbeliefs.
We don’t want to limit your love and influence in our lives.
So we surrender to you and give you permission to change our minds and our lives according to your loving plan.
Enable us to believe, embrace, and experience your love.
Help us to say goodbye to small lives and welcome whatever you have for us.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

P.S.

Isn’t it amazing how God first prepares everything for us and then even enables us to receive his gifts? Our task is to cling to Jesus, he takes care of the rest. I need to surrender to Jesus every day so I don’t retreat to fear and doubt. But, boy, isn’t it amazing to live in God’s love. So I stick to Jesus. He has the words of eternal life and also everything I need right now: peace, love, grace, hope, and joy. Why don’t you run to him too? He is waiting for you with his arms wide open. Go and experience how wildly you are loved.
