Do you feel like a loser because you aren’t making the big bucks? Are you shame of your financial troubles? But, my friend, have you forgotten? Your worth is not found in money. Mary DeMuth exposes ten lies and shares ten truths in her latest book Stop Living Small: Ten Truths Toward Your Significant Life. This post will tackle the ninth lie which is “your value is tied to money” by reminding you that your worth is tied to the weighty worth of Jesus. Nothing can change that. Nothing.

Mary DeMuth writes, “To find our worth, we must first run to the Worthy One, the One equipped to settle our worth once and for all, for now and for eternity.” This gives me deep joy. It frees me from the rat race of becoming worthy in the eyes of the world. Jesus is worthy and because I am his, I am worthy. What a blessing!

Do not wear yourself out to get rich;
do not trust your own cleverness.
Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone,
for they will surely sprout wings
and fly off to the sky like an eagle.

(Proverbs 23:4-5, NIV)

You are valuable

Mary DeMuth shares seven truths of God’s love for us in order to help us to trust God’s way of seeing our worth and seize it:
1) God will provide everything we need.
2) God loves us even when we lack.
3) God solves the deepest issues of the heart – something money cannot do.
4) God is the best Master. (We can’t serve two masters.)
5) God is bigger than our scarcity mindset.
6) God – not wealth – strengthens our souls.
7) God blesses our pursuit of true riches.

Indeed you are so valuable that God sent his only son to die for you so you could be united with him and live forever. You are to die for, my friend. Your worth is tied to the weighty worth of Jesus. So your value is out of this world. And so are the benefits of trusting him with everything you’ve got whether it is little or much.

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? (James 2:5, NIV)

God will bless you with true riches, strong faith, and empowering grace. Receive them in Jesus’ name and share them with whom you encounter. That’s what Christian life is all about.

Dear God,
Thank you for showing us our worth again and again.
Forgive us for forgetting our worth and your amazingness.
Strengthen our souls, Lord, so we can truly trust you.
Bless us the way only you can.
Be forever praised! You are an awesome God.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

P.S.

We are truly blessed, aren’t we? God has prepared everything for us, we just need to trust him and receive his grace to save us, sanctify us, and strengthen us. Amazing. Let’s not forget God’s grace! Let’s seek God every morning and live and move in him. There is no happiness without God. Thankfully, there is plenty of joy in Him! Be blessed, my friend! God loves you and is with you wherever you go!
