Do you know why people are turning their backs to God? I have a hard time figuring this out. You see, to me, God is alive and powerful. I am constantly in awe of how he moves in our lives, how he loves us. For me, God is the source of all worth having. Hence he is the last thing I would let go of.

Faith is a gift from God and it is offered to everyone. But God does not push, we have the right to say no to God. And in this post-Christian western world, more and more people are walking away. Because they don’t know better. Why can’t we better communicate the amazingness of God almighty and what he is offering? Because faith is not just for the afterlife, it’s for here and now.

I think we have forgotten how to live our faith out in our everyday life. We’ve forgotten how to be in an active relationship with God. Instead, we have put faith in a box where no one can see it, smell it, or touch it.

“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16, MSG)

God is the source of all worth having

Our faith is not a secret to be kept. We are called to be light-bearers, to bring God-colors into the world. It does not happen if we box our faith away for special occasions or places. Faith is meant to be celebrated and lived out every day of our lives. When we do so, the aroma of Christ will be recognized, the presence of the Holy Spirit will be experienced, and the effects of the Living God in our lives will be noticed as the source of all worth having.

In the end, it’s not us evangelizing others, it’s the Holy Spirit working through us. Our task is to cling to Jesus and live our faith out authentically here and now. God is our help and we are to share him with others who need help. That’s Christianity in a nutshell. Christ came because we can not help ourselves. But the help of God is glorious and his grace is all-powerful. Hence, in Him, we are blessed beyond belief.

Gracious God,
Forgive us for boxing the gift of faith and not putting it to good use so others could see your goodness.
Because you are so good, so wonderful, so amazing,
you are the source of all worth having
Thank you for rescuing us, for giving us life upon life.
Show us how to live out our faith in such a way that would bring you the most glory.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

P.S.

How about you? Have you boxed up your faith or have you just forgotten how to live your faith out? Do not worry, God has a plan for you to start celebrating life and faith with him. Ask him, he will show you how to do it day by day. Bringing God-colors into the world is a delightful task, don’t you think? Especially when it happens naturally when we abide in Jesus. So let’s bring more light and color into our midst! Be abundantly blessed!
