This image of making ourselves at home in God’s love just captured my heart today. Just think about it! God’s love is perfect. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes. God’s love never fails. And we are invited to make ourselves at home in God’s love! There’s nothing better on this earth that being at home in God’s love.
“I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love. If you keep my commands, you’ll remain intimately at home in my love. That’s what I’ve done—kept my Father’s commands and made myself at home in his love. (John 15: 9-10, MSG)
“God loves each of us as if there were only one of us“, stated Augustinus. We are all personally welcome to make ourselves at home in God’s love through Jesus. God’s love is steady, pure, intimate, empowering, eternal. We can be part of it or resent it. But if you have chosen Jesus as your savior and lord, you want to practice daily what it is to be intimately at home in God’s love.
In the Holy Spirit we can feel God’s loving presence if we just take a moment to be still. Close your eyes, focus on God, pray and listen. We can be at home in God’s love anywhere and everywhere. We don’t have to wait until heaven to do so. It is available here and right now for all who love Jesus. But why on earth people neglect this if they know God is love?
We need to be at home in God’s love, bask in it, rest in it, dwell in it. Each time I open the word of God I am so overwhelmed with God’s amazing love for us. It grounds me in the love of God. It marks me with the Holy Spirit. It directs me on the right path. There’s no other home for me than God’s perfect love. And I don’t want it any other way. I will use my whole life making myself intimately at home in God’s love and inviting others to do the same. Once we get to heaven we will feel right at home.
Thank you for inviting us home to you!
You are our true home.
We love you!
We want to make ourselves at home in you.

We want to bask in your love.
Change us with your love.
Enable us to live and share your love.
