Faith and the Power of God
As I was doing a Biblegateway search for verses that include both faith and power, I found out today that the Amplified Bible explains faith as “trust and confidence in the power of God”. That’s what it is, isn’t it?
If we don’t trust God and the power of God, our faith is more of a theory than a way of life. If we truly believe, we put our whole lives on the hands of Jesus. Because we trust God to know what’s best for us. We trust that God can. And that he will.
Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. (Hebrews 11:1, NLT)
Faith is a gift, a miracle, and a blessing. Faith changes everything in our lives. Carol McLeod puts it beautifully this way “Faith looks at a desert and sees a luscious and vibrant garden springing up in that very place. Faith looks at an overgrown and expansive wilderness and sees a roadway to destiny in its place. Faith look at nothing and sees everything.”
Nothing else will do. But when we do this, we experience what we have been craving for all along: a blessed life with God empowered by God’s grace and power.
Gracious God,
Thank you for the gift of faith.
Keep on empowering us to put our full confidence only in you.
Keep on reminding us of what you can do with fully surrendered lives.
We want to experience your presence, Lord.
Come and change whatever you want to change.
Create something beautiful out of our lives.
Only you, Lord, can transform us according to your plans.
Come and do as you please.
We praise you, Lord.
May your will happen on earth as it is in heaven.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
Q4U: Do you put your faith, trust and confidence in the power of God
Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you love and trust God with everything you’ve got!

And all the other places where we go searching for empowerment are just empty cisterns. I’m always happy when I find your words, but this is a Monday morning. . . especially needed this truth today!
That’s so true, Michele. Only God can truly empower us. So glad this post blessed you. Thanks for your faithfulness. Abundant blessings to you this week!
I’m so thankful for the gift of faith too! And oh, how I want even more. 🙂 Love the definition: “trust and confidence in the power of God”. Go, God! Thanks for sharing this, Mari-Anna.
Thanks, Lisa! So wonderful to have online friends who share the desire to have more faith. Have a blessed week!
I love how a different version of a Bible verse can bring new insight to a word of Scripture.
I found myself reading what you shared several times over, “Amplified Bible explains faith as “trust and confidence in the power of God”.” I was both convicted and encouraged. Convicted at how many times, by my very fearful actions, I am essentially saying to God, “I have no confidence in you.” May it never be!
I needed this reminder as I am facing oral surgery Wednesday that I am apprehensive about.
Thanks be to God we have an unfailing God to put our trust and confidence in.
May it never be indeed! Thanks so much, Karen, for sharing your thoughts. May God grant you fearless faith, boldness in the Spirit, and healing grace. You are loved. Rest in His grace!
Trust and confidence in the power of God. That’s a lot of hard work but it surely is worth it in the end. 🙂
Yes, it’s worth it. But you don’t have to produce that on your own. Ask God for more trust and confidence. He will be happy to help you. Blessings, sis!
