Trust God Completely

Trust God Completely

Trust God completelyIt takes time to learn to trust God completely. The more we dare to trust, the more trustworthy we find God. Little by little we learn that God will never let us down no matter how difficult our situation is. Learning to trust God completely is a process for sure. But so worth it.

Take Jacob, for example.

When he had to run away from Esau, God met him in the middle of nowhere and blessed him with an encouraging and hope-filled dream. Most likely that’s when Jacob truly met God for the first time in his life and he was impressed to say the least. But still there were lot of ifs in his promise: Then Jacob made a vow (promise), saying, “If God will be with me and will keep me on this journey that I take, and will give me food to eat and clothing to wear, and if [He grants that] I return to my father’s house in safety, then the Lord will be my God. (Gen. 28:20-21, AMP, emphasis added)

30 years later (Genesis 35) Jacob returned to Bethel to fulfil his promise to build an altar to God. Jacob had wrestled with his God and learned to know his God along the way. Now Jacob let God do the talking. This time Jacob surrendered to God without any ifs. Jacob had learned to trust God completely.

We are all called to trust God completely

Trusting God completely will make a huge difference in our every day lives. We can dump our worries and stresses at the foot of the cross. And leave them there. We can trust that God knows what he is doing. He is God Almighty after all. We can trust that God is working on our behalf behind the scenes. We can trust that God knows what’s best for us even when we don’t like it. That’s total surrender. That’s complete trust.

And that’s what Lauren Daigle sings about too in her song Trust in You:

The lyrics of Lauren Daigle’s Trust in You

Letting go of every single dream
I lay each one down at Your feet
Every moment of my wandering
Never changes what You see
I’ve tried to win this war I confess
My hands are weary I need Your rest
Mighty Warrior, King of the fight
No matter what I face, You’re by my side
When You don’t move the mountains I’m needing You to move
When You don’t part the waters I wish I could walk through
When You don’t give the answers as I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You!
Truth is, You know what tomorrow brings
There’s not a day ahead You have not seen
So, in all things be my life and breath
I want what You want Lord and nothing less

Total surrender and total trust

When we are able to surrender everything, our whole lives to Jesus, we are living like children of God. When we are able to trust God completely, we are finally living truly in grace. May it be so.

Gracious God,
Thank you that we can trust you
no matter what.
Enable us to trust you 100%.
Show us how to let go, let you.
Show us how to surrender everything to you
and then live joyfully like your children are meant to live.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you trust God completely?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you surrender your life as a living sacrifice to God!
