Flowing Faith

Persevere in Faith

Persevere in faith - flowingfaith.comHearing God’s voice or experiencing his presence is beyond wonderful. But there are times in all of our lives when God is silent and feels distant. It’s not fun but it does not mean that God would not love us anymore. We need to know that the promises of the Bible are valid each of us every day. Not just on those days when we can feel it but also – especially – when we feel desperate and alone. That’s when we need to persevere in faith.

You need to endure so that you can receive the promises after you do God’s will.

 3In a little while longer, the one who is coming will come and won’t delay;
          38 but my righteous one will live by faith, and my whole being won’t be pleased with anyone who shrinks back.
39 But we aren’t the sort of people who timidly draw back and end up being destroyed. We’re the sort of people who have faith so that our whole beings are preserved.
(Hebrews 10:36-39, CEB)

Persevere in Faith

Life is tough and enduring is harder than we think. But don’t choose the easiest solution but the best. Choose the everlasting joy because life is not about instant gratification. It’s an endurance race and there will be times when we feel God is silent and far away. And those times might even be the toughest stretches of our path. Those are the times when we just need to press on and trust God to get us through. Because he will.

How then can we persevere in faith? The same way we are saved: by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We persevere in faith by grace. Because God’s grace is more powerful than anything. That’s why we can trust God in tough spots and when he is silent. By faith we press on even when nothing makes sense to us. We don’t quit because God is alive even when he is silent. And we persevere in faith because the Word of God is not just ‘once spoken’ but is ‘still speaking’. So don’t keep your Bible shut, let it speak to you and empower you to persevere in faith.

Gracious God,
Thank you for providing us everything to persevere in faith.
Empower us to endure when times get tough.
Strengthen our faith to thrive in all situations.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

    I love that God invites us to bring our requests to Him and that when we come, the things we are promised every time we pray are “mercy and grace to help us in our time of need.” (Heb 4:16)

    • Yes, God is so good. He takes such a good care of us. Thanks, Karen. Abundant grace, mercy, and blessings to you!
