We Are Healed in Jesus

We Are Healed in Jesus

We are healed in Jesus - flowingfaith.comSometimes we might wonder whether God can understand what’s going on in our lives. You know, how awful it feels to get rejected or be shunned from the coffee table discussions at work. How could God understand what it feels like to lose a friend, right? But then I’m reminded that Jesus is God. And Jesus went through awful things, especially during the time we call the holy week. Jesus got rejected, shunned, cast off. His friends unfriended him, he got badly beaten up. Also, Jesus was disrespected and he was treated unjustly. In the end, he was killed for things he did not do. All and all, everything that a human being can feel and experience, he did. Yet he did not stop what was happening to him. He was faithful to the end so we could be forgiven and live forever. So we could be healed in Jesus.

Because He Himself [in His humanity] has suffered in being tempted, He is able to help and provide immediate assistance to those who are being tempted and exposed to suffering. (Heb. 2:18, AMP)

That means we do have God who understands what we are going through because he has experienced it all. Christ is stranger to nothing, we can come to him as we are and with whatever issues we have and be warmly welcomed. This is one of my favorite things about Jesus: He loves everyone and he is able to help. He offers himself and we are healed.

We are healed in Jesus

But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
(Isaiah 53:5, NIV)

Just the other day I experienced God’s healing touch in a small but tangible way. I was feeling a bit down because I had experienced a rejection that I had even anticipated, yet it stung. It should not have but nonetheless, it did. So I was feeling blue at the end of the day. As is my habit, I decided to bring it to Jesus before turning in for the night. So there I sat on the living room sofa reading the Bible and pouring out my soul to God. Immediately, I felt better. In the morning I was reflecting on what had happened and realized nothing had actually changed but I had been filled with hope and love.

This is Jesus: he comes alongside us and cares for us and we are filled with hope and peace. Outwardly nothing might change but inwardly we are lifted up. And that makes all the difference. We are healed in Jesus.

Gracious God,
Thank you for Jesus becoming one of us.
It is amazing how well you can understand our struggles,
thank you for never leaving us.
Thank you for loving us as we are and
coming alongside us wherever we are.
Be praised for healing and helping us.
We surrender to you, Lord.
Be praised forever and ever.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Be blessed my fellow pilgrim as you embrace Jesus not only as your lord and savior but also as your helper and healer!
