An Extra Measure of Grace

An Extra Measure of Grace

An extra measure of grace

When I am at my weakest, God comes through powerfully. Like yesterday, I was preparing and teaching a class on the goodness of God’s grace with a sore throat. During the evening, it felt like God had given an extra measure of grace for us and we were all blessed even though I truly was not at the top of my game.

Today I’m even weaker. The flue has got a hold of me. I’m weak like a kitty and here I am anyhow, writing a blog post for you guys. I trust that now that I am weak, God is mighty strong. I’m waiting for an extra measure of grace to appear for me and you. So that we could all feel God’s presence today. So that we could encounter God in a new way.

Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment]. (Hebrews 4:16, AMP,*)

An extra measure of grace

This happens when we surrender to Jesus, sit with him, drink in that extra measure of grace we all need once in awhile. God has promised to give when we ask, so today we ask for all that we need and then some. Also that extra measure of grace.

Do not worry when you plans don’t work and you’re at your weakest. That’s a wonderful opportunity for God to shine through your weaknesses. We do not have to measure up for the world. Christ has done it for us. So let’s just receive what God has for us today. Let’s drink in his goodness. And don’t stop when you think you’ve had enough to survive. Drink until you’ve received that extra measure of grace that makes you thrive and dance for Jesus even when you are weak.

Gracious God,
We love you.
Oh, how we love you.
Thank you for being our strength and joy
and everything else we need.
Come and heal us,
give us that extra measure of grace
we so badly need today.
Be our everything.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Have you experienced God’s strength in your weaknesses?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you ask and receive that extra measure of grace!
