Pace with Grace

Pace with Grace

pace with grace

One of the secrets of living well is pacing. Life can get very busy as you very well know. If we are not careful, our life easily spins out of control. And that’s not good, right? So, if we want to live well, we need to learn to pace with grace. How can we do that?

We need to remember the Christian journey is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Hence we need to pace with grace. Otherwise, we will burn out for sure. We all understand that pacing in marathon running is critical. We need to divide our strength in such a way that we will get to the finish line. But what does it mean to pace with grace?

Grace is God’s power for us. To save us, yes, but also to empower us. We are not meant to handle life alone and with our own resources. Instead, we are called to live life with God and with his endless resources.

Pace with grace

Pacing with grace means we stop regularly to be filled with the Holy Spirit and empowered by God’s grace. That is the only way (that I have found) to thrive and live well. But it works brilliantly. Divinely, to be more exact.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest[refreshing your souls with salvation]. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls.30 For My yoke is easy[to bear] and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30, AMP, emphasis added,*)

Jesus’ yoke is easy. It sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? How can a yoke be easy? Only with Jesus sharing our burdens and sorrows. Blessedly, we are all invited to live with Jesus so all of our yokes could be easy.

When we truly let Jesus keep on disciplining us, we find rest for our souls and learn to pace with grace. Then we’ve learned the unforced rhythms of grace as the Message Bible puts it.

Grace does not cause harm to us. Instead, it elevates, cleanses, nurtures. It nourishes, soothes and sustains us as needed. The pace of grace is perfect. Not too fast, not too slow. It’s a way to get a foretaste of heaven already here and now. I highly recommend it.

Gracious God,
Thank you for inviting us into a way of life that empowers and equips us for living well.
We do want that.
Do not let us sabotage ourselves.
Instead, remind us to turn to you for more grace.
Teach us to pace with grace.
Show us how to live and work in grace.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you pave with grace?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you learn the unforced rhythms of grace and live them out in your life!
