Have you ever felt the touch of the Holy Spirit? If you have, there is nothing the world can do or say to you to make you quit believing. When the Holy Spirit convinces you Jesus is alive, you know it for certain. Most often the Holy Spirit speaks softly, without a fanfare. Sure, God can make also loud statements. But most often the Holy Spirit touches our hearts while we pray and worship God.

Yes, we are told to pray. But prayer is a vehicle of blessings, not a way to torture us. In prayer, we can be touched by the Living God. Prayer is a way to be connected with Jesus. And, rest assured, it does not depend on your ability to pray. With the words of Max Lucado “Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference.”

So do not put any pressure on yourself, just get to Jesus and pray anyhow you know. Charles Spurgeon has said “True prayer is neither a mere mental exercise nor a vocal performance. It is far deeper than that – it is spiritual transaction with the Creator of Heaven and Earth.”

The Holy Spirit…

In prayer, we are transferred into a holy place where we can meet with God Almighty. While there we are already in heaven. It renews our spirit, our faith, our strength. It reminds us who and whose we are and where we are going. The Holy Spirit ministers to us sweetly and prepares us for the road ahead. So do not live without prayer. There’s nothing more exhausting than trying to live without God’s grace, peace, and power.

But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you. (John 14:26, AMP)

When the Holy Spirit touches our hearts in prayer, all is well even when it looks like the very opposite. This world is a temporary place and we are just passing through it. When we remember this and the inheritance we have in the promises of God, we can handle anything.

For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. (Romans 8:16-17a)

… touches our hearts in prayer

We are God’s heirs and all that is his are ours through Jesus. It doesn’t matter how weak we are when God’s strentgh is ours in Jesus. And it does not matter how empty we are when all that is God’s is ours in Jesus. But without prayer, we live without God’s power and his gifts to us.

The more we pray, the more we experience God’s presence in our lives. That’s why I keep praying, all the time. I am nothing without God. But with God I can do anything he sets for me to do. I adore God and his holy touch. That’s why I keep on praying. When the Holy Spirit touches our hearts, we are blessed beyond belief. There’s nothing better than that.

Dear God,
We sure are dependent on you.
Thankfully, that’s how you like it.
You’re ready to pour out all we need if we just remember to ask.
So here we are, surrdendering to you and asking for your blessings.
Let us feel your presence, Lord!
Touch our hearts in prayer!
Change us, renew us, bless us, use us.
But do not stop loving us.
Help us all the way home.
We thank you and we praise you.
You are more than enough, you are our everything.
Come Lord Jesus! Come Holy Spirit!
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen

P.S.

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim. Do not forget to pray, it’s the way to be touched by the Holy Spirit. You might not feel it but it’s true nonetheless. Keep praying, keep claiming your inheritance in Jesus. You will never be short-changed, God loves you more than you know. Enjoy God’s holiness, get close to him and let him change you to become more like him. That’s the best recipe for happiness than I know. When the Holy Spirit touches our hearts, we are blessed beyond belief.
